How to Get Fortnite on PS5

Luckily, the process is even more straightforward than it was on PS4.

Make sure your PS5 is connected to the internet and you’re signed into your PlayStation Network account. From the PS5’s home menu, press Triangle to quickly access the options at the top right-hand side of the screen. Press X to enter Search. Type in “Fortnite” and press R2 to search. Use X to select the first Fortnite search result, and press X again to begin downloading the game.

Playing Fortnite on PS5

Once downloaded and installed, simply select Fortnite to start playing. You will, naturally, need an internet connection and to be signed into PlayStation Network to play, but you do not need to be signed up for PlayStation Plus to play online.

Haven’t Played Fortnite on PlayStation Before?

If your PlayStation Network account has not already been linked with an Epic account, you’ll be asked to do this the first time you load up the game.

However, if you’ve played on Fortnite on PS4, you’ll have already connected your accounts, and you will sign in automatically to Fortnite on PS5 and be ready to hop into a match.

Changes to Fortnite on PS5

Playing Fortnite on PS5 is like playing on any other platform, and you can pick up and play on PS5 from where you left off on PS4, continuing on with the same friends list and progress.

Though, the experience will be better on PS5. In addition to running in 4K at 60 FPS, Fortnite on PS5 has faster load times and supports the Dualsense controller’s new haptic feedback and dynamic trigger features. Fortnite’s split screen mode has also been bumped up to 60 FPS.
