Before advancing further, it should be noted that PEGI gave Fortnite a Teen rating as it contains frequent scenes of mild violence. This PEGI rating only considers the content in the game and not the contact element, where players may be exposed to swearing and offensive language from strangers in voice or on-screen text chat. On top of this, Fortnite also features additional in-game purchases, which may not be suitable for younger audiences.

What is Fortnite

For the uninitiated, Fortnite is an online Battle Royale game where gamers do not have to pay to play. Once downloaded and booted up, 100 players compete against each other through player vs. player combat to be the last person standing.

Alongside the gameplay, Fortnite also has DLC seasons that allow players to unlock special items in a battle pass, play different limited-time game modes, and bring new map changes that can affect how games are played. Fortunately, nearly all of this content is available on every platform, meaning nobody is left out.

How to Download Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch

Once gamers have created a free Nintendo Account, they can now access downloadable software for Nintendo Switch from the Nintendo eShop. Providentially, any software that gamers purchase is tied to their Nintendo Account and can be played on their primary Nintendo Switch console and, under certain conditions, other Nintendo Switch consoles where they link their Nintendo Account.

To download Fortnite, gamers must first select “Nintendo eShop” on the HOME Menu to launch the digital storefront. From there, they can locate the sought-after game by typing “Fortnite” in the search bar. Now, if they click on Fortnite’s cover, they will reach its product information page, where the option to “Proceed to Purchase” will be prompted. Selecting said button will now download Fortnite to the Nintendo Switch.

Although to access the multiplayer content of Fortnite, gamers will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. Much like PlayStation Plus and Xbox Live, this is a service that charges players a fee of $20 per year for the ability to play the online multiplayer portion of video games.

Fortnite is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
